תהלים ק"נ

א׳ הַ֥לְלוּ יָ֨הּ ׀ הַֽלְלוּ־אֵ֥ל בְּקָדְשׁ֑וֹ הַֽ֝לְל֗וּהוּ בִּרְקִ֥יעַ עֻזּֽוֹ׃

1 Hallelujah.
Praise God in His sanctuary;
praise Him in the sky, His stronghold.

ב׳ הַֽלְל֥וּהוּ בִגְבוּרֹתָ֑יו הַֽ֝לְל֗וּהוּ כְּרֹ֣ב גֻּדְלֽוֹ׃

2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
praise Him for His exceeding greatness.

ג׳ הַֽ֭לְלוּהוּ בְּתֵ֣קַע שׁוֹפָ֑ר הַֽ֝לְל֗וּהוּ בְּנֵ֣בֶל וְכִנּֽוֹר׃

3 Praise Him with blasts of the horn;
praise Him with harp and lyre.

ד׳ הַֽ֭לְלוּהוּ בְתֹ֣ף וּמָח֑וֹל הַֽ֝לְל֗וּהוּ בְּמִנִּ֥ים וְעוּגָֽב׃

4 Praise Him with timbrel and dance;
praise Him with lute and pipe.

בְּמִנִּים וְעוּגָב. מִינֵי כְּלֵי שִׁיר הֵם:

with stringed instrument and flute Heb. במנים ועגב. They are kinds of musical instruments.

ה׳ הַֽלְל֥וּהוּ בְצִלְצְלֵי־שָׁ֑מַע הַֽ֝לְל֗וּהוּ בְּֽצִלְצְלֵ֥י תְרוּעָֽה׃

5 Praise Him with resounding cymbals;
praise Him with loud-clashing cymbals.

בְּצִלְצְלֵי שָׁמַע. מְצִלְתַּיִם הַמַּשְׁמִיעִים קוֹל:

with resounding cymbals Heb. בצלצלי שמע, cymbals that let a sound be heard.

שָׁמַע. שֵׁם דָּבָר הוּא, כְּמוֹ שֶׁמַע בְּסֶגוֹל, וּמִפְּנֵי הָאֶתְנַחְתָּא הוּא נָקוּד קָמַץ גָּדוֹל, וּלְכָךְ טַעֲמוֹ לְמַעְלָה תַּחַת הַשִּׁי״ן. סְלִיק סֵפֶר תְּהִלִּים:

שָׁמַע is a noun, like שֶׁמַע, with a “segol,” but because of the “ethnactha” [which denotes a pause], it is vowelized with a long “kamatz,” and therefore, its accent is above, under the “shin.”

ו׳ כֹּ֣ל הַ֭נְּשָׁמָה תְּהַלֵּ֥ל יָ֗הּ הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃

6 Let all that breathes praise the LORD.
Hallelujah.
