א׳
רַנְּנ֣וּ צַ֭דִּיקִים בַּֽיהוָ֑ה לַ֝יְשָׁרִ֗ים נָאוָ֥ה תְהִלָּֽה׃
1
Sing forth, O you righteous, to the LORD;
it is fit that the upright acclaim Him.
1
Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous, Praise is comely for the upright.
ב׳
הוֹד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה בְּכִנּ֑וֹר בְּנֵ֥בֶל עָ֝שׂ֗וֹר זַמְּרוּ־לֽוֹ׃
2
Praise the LORD with the lyre;
with the ten-stringed harp sing to Him;

Give thanks unto the LORD with harp, Sing praises unto Him with the psaltery of ten strings.
בְּנֵבֶל עָשׂוֹר. שֶׁל עֶשֶׂר מִינֵי נְעִימָה (ערכין יג:):
with a lyre of ten melodies Heb. בנבל עשור, of ten kinds of melody.
ג׳
שִֽׁירוּ־ל֭וֹ שִׁ֣יר חָדָ֑שׁ הֵיטִ֥יבוּ נַ֝גֵּ֗ן בִּתְרוּעָֽה׃

sing Him a new song;
play sweetly with shouts of joy.

Sing unto Him a new song; Play skilfully amid shouts of joy.
ד׳
כִּֽי־יָשָׁ֥ר דְּבַר־יְהוָ֑ה וְכָל־מַ֝עֲשֵׂ֗הוּ בֶּאֱמוּנָֽה׃

For the word of the LORD is right;
His every deed is faithful.

For the word of the LORD is upright; And all His work is done in faithfulness.
ה׳
אֹ֭הֵב צְדָקָ֣ה וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט חֶ֥סֶד יְ֝הוָ֗ה מָלְאָ֥ה הָאָֽרֶץ׃
5
He loves what is right and just;
the earth is full of the LORD’s faithful care.

He loveth righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the LORD.
ו׳
בִּדְבַ֣ר יְ֭הוָה שָׁמַ֣יִם נַעֲשׂ֑וּ וּבְר֥וּחַ פִּ֝֗יו כָּל־צְבָאָֽם׃

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
by the breath of His mouth, all their host.

ז׳
כֹּנֵ֣ס כַּ֭נֵּד מֵ֣י הַיָּ֑ם נֹתֵ֖ן בְּאֹצָר֣וֹת תְּהוֹמֽוֹת׃

He heaps up the ocean waters like a mound,
stores the deep in vaults.

He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; He layeth up the deeps in storehouses.
כַּנֵּד. לְשׁוֹן גּוֹבַהּ, וְכֵן תַּרְגּוּם אוּנְקְלוֹס ״נִצְּבוּ כְמוֹ נֵד״ (שמות טו:ח): ״קָמוּ כְשׁוּר״, וְכֵן פֵּרֵשׁ מְנַחֵם, וְאֵין ׳נֵד׳ וְ׳נֹאד׳ שָׁוִין:
as a mound Heb. כנד, an expression of height, and so did Onkelos render (Exod. 15:8): נצבו כמו נד, they stood up like a wall, and so did Menachem (p. 121, missing) explain it. נד and נאד do not have the same meaning.
נוֹתֵן בְּאוֹצָרוֹת תְּהוֹמוֹת. תַּחַת הָאָרֶץ:
He puts the deeps into treasuries under the earth.
ח׳
יִֽירְא֣וּ מֵ֭יְהוָה כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ מִמֶּ֥נּוּ יָ֝ג֗וּרוּ כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֥י תֵבֵֽל׃

Let all the earth fear the LORD;
let all the inhabitants of the world dread Him.

ט׳
כִּ֤י ה֣וּא אָמַ֣ר וַיֶּ֑הִי הֽוּא־צִ֝וָּ֗ה וַֽיַּעֲמֹֽד׃

For He spoke, and it was;
He commanded, and it endured.

יְֽהוָ֗ה הֵפִ֥יר עֲצַת־גּוֹיִ֑ם הֵ֝נִ֗יא מַחְשְׁב֥וֹת עַמִּֽים׃

The LORD frustrates the plans of nations,
brings to naught the designs of peoples.

The LORD bringeth the counsel of the nations to nought; He maketh the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.

עֲצַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה לְעוֹלָ֣ם תַּעֲמֹ֑ד מַחְשְׁב֥וֹת לִ֝בּ֗וֹ לְדֹ֣ר וָדֹֽר׃
11
What the LORD plans endures forever,
what He designs, for ages on end.

The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, The thoughts of His heart to all generations.
י"ב
אַשְׁרֵ֣י הַ֭גּוֹי אֲשֶׁר־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑יו הָעָ֓ם ׀ בָּחַ֖ר לְנַחֲלָ֣ה לֽוֹ׃

Happy the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people He has chosen to be His own.

Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD; The people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.

מִ֭שָּׁמַיִם הִבִּ֣יט יְהוָ֑ה רָ֝אָ֗ה אֶֽת־כָּל־בְּנֵ֥י הָאָדָֽם׃
13
The LORD looks down from heaven;
He sees all mankind.

The LORD looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men;

מִֽמְּכוֹן־שִׁבְתּ֥וֹ הִשְׁגִּ֑יחַ אֶ֖ל כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָֽרֶץ׃
14
From His dwelling-place He gazes
on all the inhabitants of the earth—

From the place of His habitation He looketh intently Upon all the inhabitants of the earth;
הִשְׁגִּיחַ. הִבִּיט:
He oversees He looks.
ט"ו
הַיֹּצֵ֣ר יַ֣חַד לִבָּ֑ם הַ֝מֵּבִ֗ין אֶל־כָּל־מַעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃
15
He who fashions the hearts of them all,
who discerns all their doings.

He that fashioneth the hearts of them all, That considereth all their doings.
הַיּוֹצֵר יַחַד לִבָּם. לֵב כֻּלָּם יַחַד וְיוֹדֵעַ כָּל הַמַּחֲשָׁבוֹת, וְרַבּוֹתֵינוּ (ראש השנה יח.) הֱסִיבוּהוּ אֶל מִמְּכוֹן שִׁבְתּוֹ הִשְׁגִּיחַ, הַיּוֹצֵר יַחַד לִבָּם, וְדָרְשׁוּ מִכָּאן שֶׁכֻּלָּן נִסְקָרִין בִּסְקִירָה אַחַת:
He Who forms their hearts together All of their hearts together and knows all the thoughts. Our Sages, however, explain that it refers back to “From His dwelling place, the Creator oversees their hearts together,” and they derived from here that all are examined with a single glance (Rosh Hashana 18a).

אֵֽין־הַ֭מֶּלֶךְ נוֹשָׁ֣ע בְּרָב־חָ֑יִל גִּ֝בּ֗וֹר לֹֽא־יִנָּצֵ֥ל בְּרָב־כֹּֽחַ׃
16
Kings are not delivered by a large force;
warriors are not saved by great strength;
16
A king is not saved by the multitude of a host; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
י"ז
שֶׁ֣קֶר הַ֭סּוּס לִתְשׁוּעָ֑ה וּבְרֹ֥ב חֵ֝יל֗וֹ לֹ֣א יְמַלֵּֽט׃
17
horses are a false hope for deliverance;
for all their great power they provide no escape.
17
A horse is a vain thing for safety; Neither doth it afford escape by its great strength.
י"ח
הִנֵּ֤ה עֵ֣ין יְ֭הוָה אֶל־יְרֵאָ֑יו לַֽמְיַחֲלִ֥ים לְחַסְדּֽוֹ׃
18
Truly the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him,
who wait for His faithful care
18
Behold, the eye of the LORD is toward them that fear Him, Toward them that wait for His mercy;
י"ט
לְהַצִּ֣יל מִמָּ֣וֶת נַפְשָׁ֑ם וּ֝לְחַיּוֹתָ֗ם בָּרָעָֽב׃
19
to save them from death,
to sustain them in famine.
19
To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine.
כ׳
נַ֭פְשֵׁנוּ חִכְּתָ֣ה לַֽיהוָ֑ה עֶזְרֵ֖נוּ וּמָגִנֵּ֣נוּ הֽוּא׃
20
We set our hope on the LORD,
He is our help and shield;
20
Our soul hath waited for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.
כ"א
כִּי־ב֭וֹ יִשְׂמַ֣ח לִבֵּ֑נוּ כִּ֤י בְשֵׁ֖ם קָדְשׁ֣וֹ בָטָֽחְנוּ׃
21
in Him our hearts rejoice,
for in His holy name we trust.
21
For in Him doth our heart rejoice, Because we have trusted in His holy name.
כ"ב
יְהִֽי־חַסְדְּךָ֣ יְהוָ֣ה עָלֵ֑ינוּ כַּ֝אֲשֶׁ֗ר יִחַ֥לְנוּ לָֽךְ׃
22
May we enjoy, O LORD, Your faithful care,
as we have put our hope in You.
22
Let Thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, According as we have waited for Thee.
