לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ בִּנְגִינֹ֗ת מַשְׂכִּ֥יל לְדָוִֽד׃

בְּב֣וֹא הַ֭זִּיפִים וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לְשָׁא֑וּל הֲלֹ֥א דָ֝וִ֗ד מִסְתַּתֵּ֥ר עִמָּֽנוּ׃

when the Ziphites came and told Saul, “Know, David is in hiding among us.”

ג׳
אֱ֭לֹהִים בְּשִׁמְךָ֣ הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי וּבִגְבוּרָתְךָ֥ תְדִינֵֽנִי׃

O God, deliver me by Your name;
by Your power vindicate me.

O God, save me by Thy name, And right me by Thy might.
וּבִגְבוּרָתְךָ תְדִינֵנִי. תִּנְקֹם נִקְמָתִי, כְּמוֹ ״כִּי יָדִין ה׳ עַמּוֹ״ (דברים לב:לו):
and with Your might, avenge me Heb. תדינני, Wreak my vengeance, as (Deut. 32:36): “When the Lord will avenge (ידין) His people.”

אֱ֭לֹהִים שְׁמַ֣ע תְּפִלָּתִ֑י הַ֝אֲזִ֗ינָה לְאִמְרֵי־פִֽי׃

give ear to the words of my mouth.

כִּ֤י זָרִ֨ים ׀ קָ֤מוּ עָלַ֗י וְֽ֭עָרִיצִים בִּקְשׁ֣וּ נַפְשִׁ֑י לֹ֤א שָׂ֨מוּ אֱלֹהִ֖ים לְנֶגְדָּ֣ם סֶֽלָה׃

For strangers have risen against me,
and ruthless men seek my life;
they are unmindful of God. Selah.

הִנֵּ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהִים עֹזֵ֣ר לִ֑י אֲ֝דֹנָ֗י בְּֽסֹמְכֵ֥י נַפְשִֽׁי׃

See, God is my helper;
the Lord is my support.

Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is for me as the upholder of my soul.
ז׳
ישוב [יָשִׁ֣יב] הָ֭רַע לְשֹׁרְרָ֑י בַּ֝אֲמִתְּךָ֗ הַצְמִיתֵֽם׃

He will repay the evil of my watchful foes;
by Your faithfulness, destroy them!

He will requite the evil unto them that lie in wait for me; Destroy Thou them in Thy truth.
לְשׁוֹרְרָי. לְעוֹיְנַי, לְשׁוֹן ״אֲשׁוּרֶנּוּ וְלֹא קָרוֹב״ (במדבר כד:יז):
to those who lie in wait for me Heb. לשררי, those who eye me, an expression of (Num. 24:17): “I see him (אשורנו), but not near.”
בַּאֲמִתְּךָ. מִתּוֹךְ שֶׁאַתָּה אֲמִתִּי, וְאָמַרְתָּ לִיפָּרַע מֵהוֹלְכֵי רָכִיל וְרוֹדְפֵי הֶרֶג (תהלים קא:ה), לְכָךְ הַצְמִיתֵם:
with Your truth Since You are truthful, and You said that You would wreak vengeance upon talebearers and those who pursue to kill, therefore, cut them off.
ח׳
בִּנְדָבָ֥ה אֶזְבְּחָה־לָּ֑ךְ א֤וֹדֶה שִּׁמְךָ֖ יְהוָ֣ה כִּי־טֽוֹב׃
8
Then I will offer You a freewill sacrifice;
I will praise Your name, LORD, for it is good,

With a freewill-offering will I sacrifice unto Thee; I will give thanks unto Thy name, O LORD, for it is good.
ט׳
כִּ֣י מִכָּל־צָ֭רָה הִצִּילָ֑נִי וּ֝בְאֹיְבַ֗י רָאֲתָ֥ה עֵינִֽי׃

for it has saved me from my foes,
and let me gaze triumphant upon my enemies.

For He hath delivered me out of all trouble; And mine eye hath gazed upon mine enemies.
